Natalia Venediktovna Lisovskaya

Natalia Venediktovna Lisovskaya was born on July 16,1962, in the village of Alegazovo, in the district of Mechetlinsky, within the Bashkir ASSR (Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic). This is now the Republic of Bashkortostan. 

Natalia competed as both a Russian and French athlete in track and field throwing events; shot put and discus throw.

· Natalia is the current World Record Holder in the women’s shot put,

· Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1984),

· Olympic Champion (1988), 

· World Champion (1987), 

· World Indoor Champion (1987), 

· European Indoor Champion (1992).

Natalia began her athletic career with all-around training in physical education in 1973 in Tashkent. In 1978, she specialized in both the shot put and discus throw. 

S. V. Karvasetskaya, (Honored Coach Uzbek SSR) was her first coach. 

Starting in 1980 she was trained by F. G. Melnik, an Honored Master, who later became an Honored Coach of the USSR in 1988.

Natalia was a member in the sports club "Lokomotiv" (in Tashkent), "Spartak" and the Society of Trade Unions (in Moscow), and later in Paris the sports club "Racing.”

L. D. Mileshin and Y. I. Beltser, both Honored Coaches of the USSR, actively worked to prepare Natalia for competition. 

Natalia was a member of both the USSR and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) national teams from 1981 through 1992.

· Champion of the XXIV Olympic Games in Seoul (1988) in the shot put (22 m 24 cm). 

· World champion in 1987 in Rome (21 m 24 cm). 

· Winner of the World Games in 1985 in Paris (20 m 7 cm). 

· 1987 World Indoor Champion in Indianapolis (20 m 52 cm). 

· Winner of the 1985 World Cup in Canberra (20 m 69 cm).

· 1992 European Indoor Champion in Genoa (20 m 70 cm). 

· Three-time winner of the European Cup finals: 1985 in Moscow (21 m 10 cm), 1987 in Prague (21 m 56 cm) and 1991 in Frankfurt am Main (21 m 12 cm). 

· The best Grand Prix total in 1989, the runner up in 1987 and 1991.

· Winner of the Grand Prix finals of the International Association of Athletics Federations in 1987. in Brussels (20 m 57 cm) and in 1989 in Monaco (20 m 3 cm).

· Winner of the Goodwill Games in 1986 in Moscow (21 m 37 cm) and 1990 in Seattle (20 m 60 cm).

· Three-time winner of the World Summer Universiade: 1983 in Edmonton (20 m 46 cm), 1985 in Kobe (20 m 47 cm) and 1987 in Zagreb (20 m 48 cm).

· Competitor in the Barcelona XXV Olympic Games (1992; 9th place). 

· Silver medalist 1991 World Championships in Tokyo (20 m 29 cm). 

· Bronze medalist of the World Championship in 1991 in Seville (20 m). 

· Silver medalist of the 1990 European Championship in Split (20 m 6 cm) 

· Silver medalist of the 1990 European Indoor Championships in Glasgow (20 m 35 cm). 

· Bronze medalist at the 1982 European Indoor Championships in Milan (18 m 50 cm). 

· Winner of the 1982 USA-USSR track and field meet in Indianapolis (19 m 26 cm) 

· Winner of the 1985 Japan – USSR – USA 1985 in Tokyo (20 m 73 cm). 

· Winner of the VIII Summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR in 1983 (20 m 57 cm). 

· Seven-time champion of the USSR: 1981 (18 m 66 cm, USSR record among juniors), 1983 (20 m 57 cm), 1985 (20 m 74 cm), 1986 (21 m 38 cm), 1988 (22 m 55 cm), 1989 (20 m 30 cm) and 1990 (20 m 72 cm). 

· Champion of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1992 (20 m 39 cm).

· Four-time USSR indoor champion: 1982 (19 m 11 cm), 1983 (20 m 49 cm), 1987 (22 m 14 cm, USSR indoor record) and 1988 (21 m 60 cm). 

· Champion of France in 2001 (17 m 33 cm). 

· Silver medalist at the 2000 French Indoor Championships (17 m 8 cm) and 2002 (16 m 51 cm) 

· Silver medalist in the 2001 French Indoor Championships (17 m 35 cm) and 2002 (16 m 89 cm).

Natalia is the current world record holder in the women’s shot put (1987; 22 m 63 cm). 

In addition to her current world record, she set world records in the shot put - 22 m 53 cm (1984), 22 m 60 cm (1987). 

In 1981, she set a USSR record among juniors in discus throwing - 62 m 28 cm. 

Her personal record in the discus is 63 m 44 cm (1982).

Natalia was graduated from the State Central Order of Lenin Institute of Physical Physics culture in Moscow (now the Russian University of Sports). She was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1989). 

She retired in 1992 and lives in Paris. 

Her husband was Youri Georgievich Sedykh (1955–2021) world record holder in the hammer throw. 

Daughter: Alexia Yurievna Sedykh (b. 1993), French track and field athlete, champion of the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games 2010 in Singapore in the hammer throw (59 m 8 cm), French record holder for girls. Personal best – 70 m 77 cm (2015)..
